Careers at UrbanStems

We launched on Valentine's Day 2014, and have been growing quickly since then! Now we're looking to expand our team to include amazing people, like you, to help us revolutionize the flower and gifting industries!

Before We Start

As outdated and inefficient as floral delivery is in the US today, there's something we find even more disturbing. We see almost a new study a week showing that how unhappy people are with work. Seeing as how we spend a majority of our waking hours at work, to us it didn't seem like a good formula for happiness. Although more difficult, we're dead set on creating a team that loves what they're doing. We also expect you to help us continue that for those who come after you. We're out to prove that a happy team means happier customers, and doing well gives us more resources to invest back in our team to do good.

Corporate and Special Events Sales Director (DC or NYC)

The Sales Team

Our sales team is focused on creating fun, simple and beautiful floral experiences for our corporate and special event customers. You’ll have an opportunity to build relationships to sell our products for lobbies, waiting rooms, and offices (as on going subscriptions); corporate discounts for organizations; and conferences, events, galas, parties, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs / sweet 16’s, and more (as special events). Our customers have a lot on their plate so we make the process easy and make sure everything floral is taken care of so they can stay productive or enjoy their event.

The Gig

We’re not a traditional flower company, so it would only make sense we would be innovative and have a totally different way to serve customers than everyone else. We’re looking for a leader to manage the sales organization by mentoring and coaching junior staff and managers in all of our markets. We’ve automated many of the processes to minimize the account management required, but we still need your help to #sendhappy to many more people than we have before. That means you’ll have the opportunity to not only execute on our current strategy, but also help scale our business as our company grows.

What You'll Do

  • Be the ultimate owner of corporate and non-traditional consumer customer sales including outreach, consultation, planning, setup, and follow up. That includes building marketing collateral, analyzing the sales funnel for leakage, and tracking the progress of your team.
  • Leverage your own network of potential customers in the markets we currently serve.
  • Work with our city general managers, marketing team, product team, and operations team to reach customers, source flowers, and have products delivered to where they need to go.
  • Work with our vendor partners to source leads and provide customers options.
  • Help improve the current processes to help us scale and be better at what we do.
  • Attend networking events to generate leads and partnerships as applicable.
  • We’re a startup — when it comes down to it, you’re able to roll up your sleeves and contribute wherever needed.

About You

  • You have 10-15 years of experience in corporate sales and event sales. You know what works well, the short cuts, and the way to customers’ hearts and can teach others how to close.
  • Meticulously organized - it is OK if people may say you are over-organized and too detail oriented :). You’ll be juggling multiple customers at once and need to keep everything straight without missing a beat.
  • Entrepreneurial - You are OK with some ambiguity and know “how to get it done”. Even with all the planning in the world, the unexpected can happen. You need to be able to not stress out, think quickly on your feet, and make sure everything always runs smoothly.
  • Excellent customer service skills - on rare occasions, you may come across a very difficult to please customer and need to figure out a way to keep them happy.
  • Excellent communication skills - You will be emailing and talking to customers, partners, and our staff non-stop so you’ll need to be great at clearly and efficiently explaining your thoughts.
  • You love collaboration - You strive to work with others to build a better brand and better experiences.
  • You’re a closer. If a new relationship is sent your way, odds are you’ll be able to make the sale.
  • Some floral industry knowledge (nice to have, but not required if you can pick it up quickly). Whether as a buyer, arranger, designer, or in some other capacity, you need to know your stems.
We believe happy employees makes for happy customers. What makes us happy? Things like:
  • Flowers on your desk and in your home whenever you want!
  • Being around some of the smartest and kindest people you’ll ever meet
  • Unlimited/Open vacation policy
