You can’t create a floral arrangement out of thin air, can you? To start the process, you’ll need a few important tools, including:

Let’s be honest: You don’t have to be a floral prodigy to create your own floral arrangement. All it takes is a little finesse to get a gorgeous bundle of blooms you can be proud of.
Be careful what size and shape you use, as this will determine what kind of a statement your arrangement will make.
- Large vases should use fewer types of flowers, as they are already flashy on their own. You’ll also want flowers with large, sturdy stems.
- Medium vases are the most versatile, as you can pick a variety of flowers without a problem.
- Small vases should use a few bright flowers, as you won’t have room for extra greenery
Next come the flowers. Each one of our bouquets includes framing stems, foundational flowers, and focal flowers.
Now that you have everything you need, it’s time to arrange your flowers into the group that suits them best:
- Framing flowers are typically firm leaves, filler greenery, or branches (think seeded eucalyptus and ruscus).
- Foundational flowers are sturdier blooms that take up space (think chrysanthemums, gardenia, or peonies).
- Focal flowers are the flowers you want to shine (think roses, freesia, or tulips).
- Floater flowers are small and delicate to add a soft touch (think ranunculus, thistle, and scabiosas).
Start by adding in the thickest framing flowers. These are your base and should keep flowers upright in the proper place, so use a mix of tall and low stems.
Once you’ve created a solid backdrop, it’s time to add the foundation flowers. Cut the stems short and fill in any empty space you have.
